CITIES AND REGIONS

Montenegro has an abundance of towns that were developed through the centuries. Although they may look alike at first sight, once you get to know them a bit better, with their traditions and customs, they can bring out the curiosity in everyone who wishes to explore them in more detail. Since Montenegro is divided into three regions: Coastal, Central and Northern – Mountain, each one of these gave some special characteristics to its towns.

Coastal region

The 293 km long coast cherishes the spirit of Mediterranean with its stone walkways, six cities of ancient civilizations, botanical gardens with plants brought by the sailors from different parts of the world, carnival parades and fiestas throughout the whole year. Beaches are famous for their beauty, for being different, and for their curative effects. In summer time the coast is the centre of entertainment and cultural events, musical and film events and international competitions.

Cities in this region are: Budva, Becici, Sveti Stefan, Petrovac, Bar, Ulcinj, KotorPerast, Tivat and Herceg Novi

Central region

The Central region or business part of Montenegro with capital Podgorica in its centre is a crossroads of businesses, entertainment and relaxation. Whether you will choose natural environment of lakes and mild mountains or urban environment – it is up to you. Cities in this region are: Cetinje, Podgorica,Danilovgrad and Niksic

Northern region

When we think of natural beauties of Montenegro first thing that crosses our mind are the sights of the north of Montenegro. Three National parks, Durmitor, Biogradska gora and Prokletije, the vast area of the mount Sinjajevina, deep canyons of the rivers Tara, Piva and Komarnica and numerous gorgeous mountain lakes such as Crno jezero, Kapetanovo, Zminje, Trnovacko, Zabojsko, Biogradsko and Pesica lake will certainly leave every traveller breathless.

Cities in this region are: Kolasin, Mojkovac, Zabljak, Pluzine, Plav, Andrijevica,Berane, Rozaje, Bijelo Polje and Pljevlja
